Missing OVAL 5.10.1 download link

Dragos Prisaca-3

Hi,

I remember I’ve seen the link for downloading OVAL 5.10.1 content on http://oval.mitre.org/rep-data/index.html but it’s not there anymore (please see the screenshot bellow).

Was it removed intentionally?

The content is available if you browse directly to http://oval.mitre.org/rep-data/5.10.1/org.mitre.oval/v/index.html.

While somewhat confusing, this behavior was by design. Each night a tool runs against the full repository and calculates the least version required the express the content. What you see on the web site today reflects that all content can be expressed in 5.10. There are no constructs/capabilities unique to 5.10.1 that are being used in the repository today. Given that 5.10.1 was a very small bug fix release, this is not a surprise.

When new content is added by default it is assigned to the schema version equal to the latest version of the language. It is probably the case that you saw a link to 5.10.1 content during some intermediate state when downloads were available and the least version calculator tool had not yet been run. This situation should not occur. We should not be generating static content downloads before the least version calculator tool runs. We will look into and resolve this issue.

I will also look into getting a static url setup that will always have the full body of repository content.

Thanks for pointing this out,

Jon
