I’d like to share some details with you regarding the upcoming Security Automation Developer Days Winter 2010 Conference to be held on Monday, 22 February 2010 thru Wednesday, 24 February 2010.  This technical conference is a free three-day event that will be hosted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to further the collaborative efforts of the Department of Defense (DoD), NIST and the MITRE Corporation with regard to security automation. This conference will consist of a series of workshops that focus on engaging the security automation community in the development of key security automation related initiatives, including: the Common Platform Enumeration (CPE), the eXtensible Configuration Checklist Description Format (XCCDF), Remediation and Digital Trust.

Agenda: https://register.mitre.org/dev_days/Security_Automation_Developer_Conference_Agenda.pdf

Who should attend?

This event is specifically targeted at developers and technical implementers of standards-based security content, security automation tools and related technologies.  We are planning for a highly technical, interactive discussion format in a small group setting.  This event is not recommended for individuals who want to learn more about security automation.  Attendees will be required to have an in-depth understanding of concepts such as:

·         Familiarity with security automation specifications (i.e. CPE, XCCDF, OVAL, XML-DSig)

·         XML Schema design and/or schema based-development

·         Design and technical implementation of standards

·         Familiarity with security automation use cases

As space will be limited, it is recommended that no more than 1 or 2 representatives of an organization attend.  Attendance at each workshop is not required.

Registration page: https://register.mitre.org/dev_days/

Please note if you are not a US Citizen, you must state this with your registration so special passes to gain entrance to the building can be obtained.
